Starting a segment called “If You Don’t Know…” where we will highlight an artist who isn’t directly a part of the Texas/Red Dirt scene OR may not be a “household” name yet BUT is an AMAZING talent that you should check out!
This week we highlight, Lori McKenna!
This super talented songwriter is a mother of five and is from Massachusetts! So, no, she’s not a Texas musician or artist but she’s collaborated with at least one who adores her music: Wade Bowen. She co-wrote with Bowen and Ashley Ray, his song “Long Enough to be a Memory.”
Earlier this year, she was nominated for the prestigious Grammy Award for Song of the Year and won Best Country Song for co-writing the hit “Girl Crush” performed by Little Big Town.
McKenna recently released her 10th album, The Bird and The Rifle. Find out more about that release here.
Here she is performing one of our favorite tunes: “Humble and Kind:”
Now, who do you think we should know?
