Kevin Welch, singer-songwriter and producer, has announced that there is new music on the way! (By the way, if you don’t know Welch’s work, you should dig into it. He’s not only written some amazing music for himself but others have used it as well including Ricky Skaggs, Moe Bandy, Waylon Jennings, Patty Loveless, Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood and Don Williams.)
Here’s his announcement posted to social media:
Greetings, KW here. I thought I should check in to let you know about all this stuff going on.
First up…sometime before Christmas, we’re releasing a limited-edition signed and numbered double LP called The Dead Reckoning Years. Carefully re-mastered and lacquer cut, 180 grams and so forth. I’ve been quietly working on this for about a year, talking about it for maybe 10. Beautiful original artwork by Olivia Hellman.
In the meantime, I’m finishing up a new record, recorded… in Nashville with a bunch of old friends. 8 songs I wrote by myself, and 2 killers that have been simmering in the background since the 70s and 80s, one written by John Hadley, the other by Bill Caswell. We put together an insane band, and we made noises I’ve never made before. It’s coming in the Spring.
The sessions were well-documented and we’ll be putting out videos every so often, so you can see what happened in there. We’re also opening up a brand-new website in September, we’ll let you know when it rolls out. Sending our best wishes out to you all. Keep your chins up, ears out, eyes open. Love, kw
