Do you know a great songwriter? Or maybe you are one? The Texas Country Music Association has just opened up their 2018 Songwriter Contest and Awards for your submissions! There are two categories: Country and Christian Country and up to five songs can be submitted per entry form. (More forms may be submitted.) Songs will be judged on creativity, lyrics, melody, arrangement, originality and overall technique.
Each category will be narrowed down to 10 songs, then 5 songs, where a winner and 4 runners up will be named. The final winner in each category will be named the 2018 TCMA Country Songwriter of the Year and 2018 TCMA Christian Country Songwriter of the Year, respectively. Songwriters will receive a Lifetime Membership in the Texas Country Music Association, a 2018 Songwriter of the Year Award Trophy to be presented at the 2018 Texas Country Music Awards next fall and the opportunity to perform their song at the Awards show and other TCMA sponsored special events. They will also be given a featured ad and link on the TCMA website for one year and the opportunity to place their song on the TCMA Best of Texas Country or Christian Country Compilation CD.
Submissions are being accepted now through April 30, 2018, or until each category receives 250 songs. So get those entries in! For complete rules and prize information, go to http://www.texascountrymusicassociation.org/songwriter.
